Tim Dillon is an American stand-up comedian, podcaster, writer, and actor known for his sharp, no-holds-barred humor and commentary on social, cultural, and political issues. Born on January 22, 1985, in Island Park, New York, he grew up in a working-class Irish Catholic family. His early life included a brief stint as a child actor, notably appearing on Sesame Street at age nine, where he danced with Snuffleupagus—an experience he’s jokingly described as a failed attempt at acting stardom.
Before comedy, Dillon held various jobs, including working as a New York City tour guide and dabbling in the mortgage industry until the 2008 financial crisis derailed that path. He turned to stand-up around 2010, finding his footing in New York’s comedy scene. His big break came in 2016 when he performed at the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal, earning a spot on Rolling Stone’s “10 Comedians You Need to Know” list in 2017. Since then, he’s built a reputation for his biting, unapologetic style.
Dillon hosts The Tim Dillon Show, a popular podcast averaging a million weekly viewers across audio and video platforms, where he riffs on everything from personal anecdotes to American politics and the entertainment industry. The show, originally called Tim Dillon Is Going to Hell, started on the GaS Digital Network with co-host Ray Kump before evolving into its current format. He’s also released stand-up specials, including Tim Dillon: A Real Hero (2022) and Tim Dillon: This Is Your Country (2024) on Netflix, the latter styled as a chaotic, Springer-esque take on pre-election America.
As an actor, Dillon has appeared in films like Thanksgiving (2023) and Joker: Folie à Deux (2024). Openly gay since coming out at 25, he’s been candid about his past struggles with substance abuse, starting with drugs and alcohol as a teen and later overcoming cocaine addiction. Now based in Los Angeles after a brief time in Austin, Texas, he
