Dana Loesch is an American radio and television host, political commentator, and author known for her outspoken conservative views. Born on September 28, 1978, in Missouri, she grew up in a Southern Baptist family and initially leaned Democratic, even supporting Bill Clinton’s re-election in 1996. Her political shift to the right began after the Monica Lewinsky scandal and solidified following the 9/11 attacks, influenced partly by her marriage to Chris Loesch, a staunch Republican.
She started her career as a writer, contributing investigative articles to St. Louis Magazine and running a blog called "Mamalogues," which focused on her life as a homeschooling mom. This blog gained traction and was picked up as a weekly column by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch from 2006 to 2008. In 2008, she transitioned into radio with The Dana Show: The Conservative Alternative, which became nationally syndicated and is now broadcast from Dallas, Texas. She’s recognized as a top talk radio host, often ranked among the most influential in the field.
Loesch has also been a prominent television personality, hosting Dana on TheBlaze TV from 2014 to 2017 and appearing as a commentator on networks like Fox News, CNN, and ABC. She served as a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association (NRA) from 2017 to 2019, becoming a leading voice for gun rights advocacy. Her tenure with the NRA, especially after events like the Parkland shooting in 2018, made her a polarizing figure, drawing both praise and criticism.
She’s authored several books, including Hands Off My Gun: Defeating the Plot to Disarm America (2014), Flyover Nation: You Can’t Run a Country You’ve Never Been To (2016), and Grace Canceled: How Outrage is Destroying Lives, Ending Debate, and Endangering Democracy (2020). Married to Chris Loesch since 2000, she has two sons and is known for her blend of conservative activism with a distinctive personal style, often described as having a "punk-rock" edge. Today, she continues to host her radio show and remains a vocal figure in conservative media.
