Dan Bongino is an American conservative political commentator, author, and radio show host. Born on December 4, 1974, in Queens, New York City, he began his career in law enforcement, serving as a New York City Police Department (NYPD) officer from 1995 to 1999. He then joined the United States Secret Service in 1999, where he worked as a special agent, eventually becoming part of the elite Presidential Protective Division during the administrations of Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. He resigned from the Secret Service in 2011 to pursue a career in politics and media.
Bongino ran unsuccessfully for Congress as a Republican three times—in 2012 for the U.S. Senate in Maryland, and in 2014 and 2016 for the U.S. House of Representatives in Maryland and Florida, respectively. After his political campaigns, he transitioned into a media career, becoming a prominent voice in conservative circles. He has authored several books, including bestsellers like Life Inside the Bubble (2013), which details his Secret Service experiences, and others focused on political commentary, such as Spygate: The Attempted Sabotage of Donald J. Trump (2018).
He gained significant recognition as the host of The Dan Bongino Show, a radio program and podcast that launched in 2017, where he discusses politics, current events, and national security from a conservative perspective. The show has grown to attract millions of listeners. Bongino also hosted Unfiltered with Dan Bongino on Fox News from 2021 until April 2023, when he parted ways with the network due to a contract dispute. He continues to host his radio show and has a strong presence on platforms like Rumble.
Bongino holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology from Queens College and an MBA from Pennsylvania State University. He is known for his outspoken style and has built a large following among conservative audiences. He currently resides in Florida with his wife, Paula, and their two daughters.
